St. Luke¢??s Hospital is fondly remembered as ¢??German Davakhana¢? due to its rich history and German origin. It was established in 1953 and initially managed by the Sisters of Medical Mission Secular Institute (MMSI), Germany. In 1989, the hospital¢??s management was officially handed over to the Sisters of Charity of St. Anne (SCSA). The foundation for the hospital was laid in 1952 by Fr. Mayer S.J., Br. Herbert S.J., and their team from the Jesuits of Pune Province. The inaugural service in 1953 was conducted by five sisters led by Sr. Christine Ott (MMSI) and two German doctors, Dr. Betz and Dr. Kronschnabi, along with the Jesuit fathers.
