As a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator, you will be resolving complex issues involving database design, configure, performance, database capacity, replication, high availability and other key aspects most current SQL Server versions. The most successful candidates will combine extremely deep, low-level database systems management capabilities with native coding/scripting skills to contribute to initiatives that reduce operational effort through infrastructure software development and automation. You ll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to develop and deploy large scale infrastructure solutions that supports JPMC s diverse and critical businesses. Critical thinking, clear communication and collaboration are key to success. The role requires staff to have on-call availability to respond to major database incidents
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration in a production environment
Strong experience with configuration and advance features of SQL Server 2008, SQL 2012, SQL 2016
Strong experience with SQL Server clusters with multiple nodes on each cluster, mirroring, logshipping, always-on and other methods of disaster recovery
Migration of SQL Server databases from one platform to another
Experience with SSIS packages, SSRS and SSAS
Knowledge of SAN, data loading, security, capacity planning, backup and recovery
Solid skills in database performance tuning, optimizing queries and stored procedures
Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages: Python, SQL Scripting, Powershell Scripting and/or Perl/YAML (preferably). Also experience with Microservices is desirable
Self-starter capability, ability to acquire new skills autonomously
Solid written and verbal communication skills to drive projects to successful conclusion
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Experience in database auditing and financial industry experience is a plus
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent work experience
