Desired Candidate Profile
What will you do at Ciena
You will design and develop customer driven applications using Ciena s Blue Planet development platform. You will write applications utilizing open- source software for Python or Java, Web based APIs and any other customer driven requirement and supporting today s digital services for business, residential, and mobile subscribers and serves as a core element of Blue Planet s intelligent automation .
Responsibilities
Developing modular software designed to scale and built to last.
Newly developed features getting released to a live production site in a matter of days (even hours).
General Activities
Review the development and execution of unit test cases
Attend meetings, report progress, and support the technical leadership to troubleshoot and fix critical defects.
Help investigate and collect information to resolve process issues found on the current or past releases.
Collaboration with stakeholders
Strong software analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation skills.
Ability to resolve complex issues that may require design trade- offs.
Areas of impact
Effectively communicate design and implementation issues and suggest options to feature and release leads.
Handling wide array of tasks ranging from prototyping new techniques and technologies, to developing test automation, and supporting our growing customer base. You are expected to write quality code with high availability for large- scale applications in Carrier Class networking and Cloud based environments.
Experience
Bachelor s of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design are required
5 Years of Software development experience
L2/ L3 with Python/ Java development experience (more than just scripting)
Experience programming in a Linux environment (preferably Ubuntu/ Redhat)
