Job Description

A geophysicist studies various aspects of the earth. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, they study gravity, magnetic, electrical, and seismic activity occurrences. Geophysicists also document, evaluate, and take measurements of geographic features and anomalies.

Petroleum engineers are responsible for the safe extraction of hydrocarbon deposits, such a soil and natural gas. This involves the planning and construction of boreholes (narrow holes drilled into the ground, used to locate resources) and oil wells (used to extract resources).

Petroleum engineershelp find oil and gas for the country's energy needs.Petroleum engineersdesign and develop methods for extracting oil and gas from deposits below the Earth's surface.Petroleum engineersalso find new ways to extract oil and gas from older wells.
