Morgan Stanley is looking for a hands-on Software Testing Engineer to join the firmwide developer tools and systems group, MSDE. MSDE is responsible for shaping the SDLC within Morgan Stanley by implementing the tools, systems, and processes used by all developers across the globe for software development and deployment.
The candidate will be working with a team of software developers and data scientists on building test automation on a data intensive Agile/DevOps Metrics platform. Agile/DevOps Metrics is used by thousands of developers, across a diverse set of programming languages, technology stacks, and platforms, and is continually evolved to stay current with the state of art in SDLC practices and tooling.
The candidate will drive the adoption of best practices and tooling for building test automation for our data collection, analytics, and reporting platforms. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for building test automation for our web application and dashboards. In addition to hands-on experience and breadth of technical skills, the right candidate will also have a good understanding of current best practices in test automation.
Prior experience in the financial industry is not required; candidates from software companies are welcome.
Skills Required:

Experience with testing data intensive applications. Basic understanding of statistical analysis and data science is considered an asset.

3-5 years experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test. Experience testing applications using and building automated test tools.

Development and testing experience with Python.

Experience writing automated end to end tests spanning the whole system from front end to the backend/database.

Strong understanding of Relational Databases.

Strong understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs

Strong working knowledge of all test phases including functional, integration and system, and regression testing.

Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills

Strong communication and teamwork skills. The candidate will be working closely with software developers and data scientists in an agile environment.
Candidates Would Also Be Expected To:

Drive and own the QA vision and effort for complex, data intensive application including both front end web applications and backend analytics and reporting.

Establish best practices and system/integration test environment/framework.

Embrace DevOps culture and write code to automate reliable testing processes.

Be able to incrementally and continually test to help keep the delivery pipeline running smoothly.

Keep up to date and be knowledgeable about the latest techniques and technologies in automated software quality assurance

Adapt quickly to a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
