Job Description
The Role : At Morningstar, helping investors is what brings us together and drives our work. We are looking for senior software engineers who specialize in Java/Python and AWS platform to join our team, grow with us, introduce us to new ideas and develop products that empower our users.
Every day, you ll work with team members across disciplines developing products for investors. You ll interact daily with our product managers to understand our domain and create technical solutions that push us forward. We want to work with other engineers who bring knowledge and excitement about our opportunities.
Responsibilities :
- Build well designed, well-engineered, stable, scalable products across a variety of markets.
- Follow best practices in Software engineering such as test-driven development, continuous integration, infrastructure as code, automation and agile deployments.
- Be passionate about Technology, Programming, Software development, Code quality, Agile process, Investing in general, seeing opportunities for improvement, seizing them, and then sharing your findings with others.
- Desire to become an AWS certified developer.
- Maintaining legacy C#/.NET application and multiple Green field developments with Java & Python in AWS.
- Take ownership of the success of the team with a "gets things done" attitude, potentially wearing many hats including business analyst, DBA, QA, and project manager.
- Solve investors problems with technology, understanding market chaos at work and crafting technically appropriate interactive experiences to communicate effectively with individual investors.
- Help to shape product vision.
Requirements :
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing commercial quality enterprise applications.
- Proficiency in Object Oriented programming in Java/JVM.
- Proficiency in Python language for enterprise projects using numpy & scipy libraries.
- Experience in using Python open source quadratic solvers.
- Solid experience with RDBMS, SQL, Amazon Web Services like Lambda, ECS, EC2, ALB, S3, Dynamo, CloudWatch, cloudfront, RDS-Postgres, Cloud Formation, IAM and cloud deployment tools like Serverless, Troposphere, Terraform
- Good understanding of Infrastructure as code and deployment pipeline automation in AWS.
- Exposure to front end web development using HTML, CSS and AJAX and at least one of the major JavaScript frameworks like Vue, Bootstrap etc.,
- An understanding of how to protect applications from common security vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, domain modeling, REST, microservices and building highly scalable and available systems.
- Be organized and able to remain productive even when you have multiple deliverables.
- Experience developing projects from scratch.
- Financial software experience is plus.
- Bonus points for MATLAB exposure.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
