With customer, proven capabilities, the Blue Planet team is being involved in developing the Network Management Software for CIENA products. This provides the capability of FCAPS and various management applications to manage and configure the network elements to build a global network for the data transportations.
We re looking for a motivated and talented individual with extensive experience developing the EMS and NMS software. You will take an experienced and influential role contributing to designing, developing and delivering the various applications and features to meet demanding performance, scalability and feature requirements in support of management of customer networks.
What will you do at Ciena
Design, develop, support of the EMS / NMS project for successful delivery of releases / features.
Interface with Systems Engineering in understanding and reviewing requirements as needed, write the functional / design documents for the software requirement specification and develop the same with confine time limit and high quality.
Follow the software life cycle and organization processes for each deliverable. Communicate with software testing team and implement the changes quickly as recommended.
Effectively communicate design and implementation issues and suggest options to feature and release leads.
Develop using technologies like Core Java, J2EE, RESTful web services, Java Script (ES6) with Ember Framework and Python.
Develop using the repositories like Perforce and GIT hub.
Review Integration Test cases, testing team Test cases and Coordinate with local I&T testing leads for successful delivery features for releases to SVT.
Support the communication and coordination with Network Element software designers, System Validation group and Customer Support.
Attend meetings, scrum, report progress, and contribute independently to troubleshoot and fix critical defects.
Requirements :
Knowledge of Optical domain, Telecom networking technologies like SONET, SDH, DWDM, Optical Switching, Ethernet Services and Protection Schemes like UPSR, APS, 2f- BLSR, VLSR.
Knowledge of EMS and NMS standards and thorough knowledge of FCAPS and OAM&P based products and their project lifecycle.
Network Management security with authentication and authorization using LDAP, RADIUS Server.
Knowledge of SNMP, TL1 and HTTP / HTTPS protocols.
Strong knowledge of operating systems : Linux, MAC and Windows
Extremely competent in Java, with emphasis on Core Java (OOPs concept, Designing skills, Multi- threading, Concurrency, Collection Framework, Exception handling and debug skills), Java Swing, JavaFX, JAXB, XML Parsing techniques, Socket Programming etc.
Knowledge of J2EE, Web development using RESTful services, Java Scripts (ES6 standard), Ember Framework, Qunit and Acceptance test etc.
Knowledge of Python and its libraries.
Knowledge of MAVEN and ANT build.
Knowledge of Perforce and GIT repositories.
Strong software analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation skills.
Ability to resolve complex issues that may require design trade- offs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience :
Master s or Bachelor s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively able to collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas.
Effectively able to work independently with little hands- on supervision delivering to aggressive timelines.
What will you do at Ciena
Design, develop and support software specializing in different NMS / EMS layers to support network elements using multiple technologies like DWDM, Optical Switches and Multi- Service edge products.
Responsibilities
Coordinate / support release lead / design lead on successful delivery of release / features.
Support detailed design and code according to software requirement specifications while meeting tight project deadlines. Interface with Systems Engineering in understanding and reviewing requirements as needed, interface with the Architecture team to comply with organization- wide adopted conventions and procedures (compliance to architecture, code review, etc) and deliver quality deliverables to testing groups.
Develop using technologies like Core Java, Python, Cassandra, JSON, Docker, Kafka, Ember JS using Git configuration management.
General Activities
Review the development and execution of unit test cases
Support the communication and coordination with ON- Site Engineers for ON- Site needs i.e. Network Element interface issues, System Validation group support, Customer Support.
Attend meetings, report progress, and support the technical leadership to troubleshoot and fix critical defects.
Help investigate and collect information to resolve process issues found on the current or past releases.
Collaboration with stakeholders
Strong software analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation skills.
Ability to resolve complex issues that may require design trade- offs.
Areas of impact
Effectively communicate design and implementation issues and suggest options to feature and release leads.
