Desired Candidate Profile

Role Summary/Purpose:

Reporting to the R&D Team Leader, the Senior Embedded Software Manager is responsible for leading the software development resources. The candidate is responsible to deliver NPI and LCS programs across multiple products of Substation Protection portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities:

Product Delivery

• Lead a team software engineers.
• Guide the firmware/software development teams to create manageable work breakdown structure, resource assignment, risk mitigation.
• Delivery of the product software in accordance with the requirements as defined by the Product Management and maintain compliance to established NPI QMS process and design review guidelines
• Define project plans, and provide effort and schedule estimates at various stages of product planning
• Define and maintain resource allocation plans for direct staff, contractors, expense and capital spend
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with project goals including meeting schedule, budget, resource allocation and specifications with regular reporting to key stakeholders.
• Elimination of obstacles through coordination and collaboration with various stakeholders on product release planning, development, test, and delivery
• Own strategy for zero design defects and ensure rigor across programs to accomplish this
• Knowledge of install base problems, tracking field issues and escaping defects and plan for quality releases working with cross functional teams such as service, quality and projects teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in the development process such as bug tracking, compliance to unit testing and code review practices and tools etc.

Product Technology

• Collaboration with stake holders to contribute towards effective future product release planning to introduce technology, in a timely manner and release the best in class products.
• Collaboration with the R&D function team to define and maintain the overall technical architectural integrity of the product through design re-use and sound engineering.
• Drive development and writing of specification and design documentation for projects, by soliciting information from key stakeholders.
• Guide the development infrastructure, tools and processes to ensure and continuously improve the development teams efficiency and build process.

Stake holder and Customer Focus

• Customer-oriented focus in the decision making process on product planning and development, and the resolution of issues.
• Conduct the appropriate level of product knowledge transfer to better serve our customers and drive resolution of customer issues and training of new products.
• Clearly communicate ideas, concepts to technical and non-technical audience and create and maintain an environment that inspires constant innovation in product and process.

Team Management

• Management of the team including performance reviews and compensation input, professional development, recruitment and team building.
• Organizing, delegating, and following up on assigned tasks towards completion of product development
• Mentoring for technology, design, communication and conflict resolution & provide direct technical leadership and coaching & motivational role to engineering team.

UG:   B.Tech/B.E. - Any Specialization, Computers

PG:  Any Postgraduate - Any Specialization
