The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven skills as a leader of engineering with a track record and industry reputation of successfully delivering enterprise software products
- At least 8 years of experience in engineering management, and an overall industry experience of 15+ years
- Experience leading within large matrixed organizations comprised of strong individual contributors and managers. Strong people leadership skills with the experience of leading and providing technical direction for the engineering team, and a track record of building and growing high-performance teams
- Strong technical foundation in digital, cloud-native, big data & AI/ML technologies
- Experience with agile software development using scrum & XP practices, and modern DevOps & DevSecOps approach is necessary. Experience with SAFe methodology is highly desired
- Strong influencing and relationship skills. Cultural affinity and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders from different cultural and national backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders, including internal teams and large customers, and experience managing technology suppliers/vendors/partners.
- Strong business acumen, tenacity to work in a high-stakes environment and deal with ambiguity
- Experience in managing multiple competing projects simultaneously
- A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement
- Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes across all levels in the organization
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop the product development strategy along with full accountability for delivering expected software releases with agility, predictability & quality
- Partner with the leadership and product management teams on product strategy and roadmap refinement
- Build & grow a high-performance team of dedicated, passionate, and innovative engineers with the right team culture to deliver industry-leading products
- Inspire creativity and research in the area of software engineering and operations, steer the team to build & protect intellectual property through the research and implementation of new approaches in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and other emerging technologies. Maintain an enterprise view on the evolution of platforms and nurture experimentation in support of understanding emerging technologies
- Align the architectural roadmap that balances different needs including scalability, reliability, usability, performance, and cost-effectiveness
- Identify and prototype solutions with different cloud-native & digital technologies to help solve technical challenges or overcome limitations in the existing infrastructure. Present findings of technical feasibility assessments to executive and engineering team members
- Quality is a high priority. A successful engineering leader will advocate for code quality among the team by participating in code reviews, test plan development, and being accountable for writing appropriate automated tests
- Work with developers and architects on technical decisions throughout the development lifecycle
- Establish metrics to measure effectiveness and drive improvements
