Software Engineer II - Hyderabad @ Microsoft

Currently we offer the following services to all of Microsoft database systems customers, ISV s and Partners to discover, assess, migrate and validate data estates -

• Azure Database Migration Service
• Data Migration Assistant
• SQL Server Migration Assistant
• DocumentDB Data Migration Tool
  

Building on top of these, we are building a new team to build a seamless, unified, reliable, performant and comprehensive automated solution for customers looking to move to the Azure Cloud OSS databases.

As we extend our offering to move customer workloads to Azure, we will add focus to detailed programmatic and ML assessment of data and schema, validation and data estate discovery, data and application migration and validation. These problems require solid distributed system design and problem diagnosis skills. If you have proven record of accomplishments with depth in System design and API workflow, user experience, along with interest to work in a fast-paced team which value iterative development in a shorter cadence (shipping every week), we should connect.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Mathematics or Physics or IT technical discipline or in place of 3+ years of internship or 3+ years of industry engineering experience.
• 5-8 + years of programming experience in Java OR C++ OR C OR object-oriented programming.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms and distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in open-source technology stack (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Hadoop) is highly desirable.
• Experience in relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server and/or database migrations is highly desirable.
• Experience with distributed systems development, with an emphasis on mission-critical robustness, performance, scalability, security and build-to-last.
• Experience with Open-Source Big Data Stack such as Hadoop, HIVE, SPARK, HBASE etc.
• Experience in database internals, schema, storage, metadata, migrations is also highly valuable.
• Ability to work in an agile environment, learning and adapting quickly.
• Excellent communication, and motivation skills

• Strong track record of collaboration across multi-discipline boundaries.
• Experience building and shipping production grade software or services.
• Experience building and operating online services and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Experience creating and shipping V1 products using modern development practices.
• Experience using agile methodologies or test-driven development (TDD).
