Sr Software Engineer - Parsing - Noida - IHS @ Markit

Markit Parsing is a real-time quote parsing system. The service extracts indicative over-the-counter pricing, providing traders and portfolio managers with real-time pricing data for CDS, indices, bonds, tranches, loans and other OTC asset classes.

Position summary

This position is for a hands-on developer who can design, build and support various components of Markit Quotes platform. The role is that of a middle level developer working on projects and tasks to develop, support, optimize and improve the platform.

This role would suit a Java/SQL developer with 6+ years of experience. Experience using Natural Language Processing, Text mining/ Text analytics, Parser Generation etc is desired but not essential.

Duties accountabilities

This will involve design, development and support of Markit Parsing Platform including both parsing and non-parsing components within a global team.

Parsing engine uses Jflex, Byacc/J, Antlr technologies, while other non-parsing components use Core java, Spring, Camel, Active mq, Hazelcast, Elastic search, Apache Lucene, Restful Web services, Grails and Oracle pl/sql etc.

Responsibilities will include requirements analysis, coding, documentation, database performance tuning, peer code reviews, knowledge sharing and managing your performance and delivery against agreed goals and objectives.

Education and experience

• The right candidate will have an academic degree in software engineering or exceptional track record if the candidate has a degree in any other discipline
• 6+ years of professional programming experience, preferably in financial domain
• Good knowledge of Java and Design Patterns
• Good knowledge of Algorithms and Data Structures
• Knowledge of Java distributed computing technologies and modern Java web technologies will be advantageous
• Good knowledge of OOP
• Experience in using and understanding regular expressions is a plus.
• Familiar with testing frameworks like JUnit, spring-test, Mockito is a plus.
• Experience with an enterprise-grade relational database management system, preferably Oracle, including expert level SQL
• Knowledge of parsing utilities like Jflex/Byacc/ANTLR is desirable not essential

Commercial awareness

• Understanding of basic financial market terminology is desirable, but not essential
