Job Summary:
As Senior Software Engineer you will assume full ownership of specific software modules and work on challenging engineering tasks that will test your understanding of design, code efficiency and performance. You will understand business requirements via frequent interactions with the business team and make technical suggestions that can sufficiently address business needs. Along with a team of a couple engineers and a tester, which you will lead, you will drive your features from the planning and design phase all the way until live production deployment
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and develop components and software products in a Java EE environment, applying industry standards to ensure performance scalability, stability, maintainability and reliability
Advocate best practices; engage and inspire junior developers through code reviews, coaching and mentorship
Analyze the business requirements to develop requirements specification documents.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience in distributed, highly concurrent and performance sensitive Java/ J2EE applications
Highly enthusiastic, self starter and hungry to take initiative to create something new and exciting
Experience leading small teams of junior engineers of up to 5 people
Excellent understanding of object oriented software development principles, design patterns
Experience in Java related technologies such as spring (security, MVC, ORM, AOP), hibernate/ JPA, JSPs, JUnit, JAXB, JMS, Quartz, Drools
Excellent experience in normalized relational database modeling, and project/ package structuring
Experience with SOAP (Axis)/ REST based web services and API design.
Experience with front end technologies such as JS, Jquery, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS
Experience of working with code repositories such as SVN/ Git
Ability to create project milestones and deliver on deadlines
Keen focus on creating and maintaining software processes and best practices
Comfortable and familiar with agile, TDD and rapid iteration development. Knowledge of build processes, continuous integration and automated testing environments is a plus
Some degree of Experience with linux environments and shell scripting
Some degree of experience with web/ applications servers such as Tomcat/ Apache HTTPD/ Varnish/ Nginx.
Experience with cloud based hosting providers such as Amazon AWS is a plus
Experience with GWT/ SmartGWT is a strong plus
