Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Experience: 5-10 Years
About the role:
Our client is a leading edtech company looking for stellar SRE candidates who can help them build and reinforce the right devops culture and practices. The ideal candidate is a team player, and self-motivated multi-tasker, hands on SRE who can lead the design of, and implement their next generation of infrastructure and practices. They are looking for candidates who have experience implementing advanced SRE techniques as well as observability and scaling systems, and who also keep focus on infrastructure security.
You will be collaborating daily with a brilliant team of engineers, data scientists and product managers who are passionate about building a high-quality product that millions of students trust and love.
What will you be doing
You will be responsible for
- Design and Implementation of our next gen api gateway & help scale our microservice architecture.
- Design and implementation of secure and scalable infrastructure, CD pipelines that
deploy to multiple cloud platforms. - Own and automate infrastructure provisioning, demand forecasting & capacity planning.
- Build tools and automation to improve systems observability, availability, reliability, performance, emergency response
- Cost controls
- Practice sustainable incident response as well as participate in peer reviews and
blameless postmortems - Envision, implement and rollout best SRE tooling and automation for all of our
services, thus increasing the productivity and effectiveness of the overall engineering team.
Required Skills:
- You have 5+ years of hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a similar role, focusing on -
- Ability to quickly iterate, learn and adopt cutting edge technologies with the right value proposition.
- Prior experience in implementing API gateways like Kong/Zuul, and managing Haproxy/Nginx or similar at scale.
- Deep working knowledge on Linux servers and networking
- Strong knowledge on any one of - Python, Shell, Go or Java
- Strong experience in maintaining cloud infrastructure like AWS/GCP
- Understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices
- Strong Experience with infrastructure automation and container orchestration tools like -
- Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment processes and tools like Jenkins
- People who have been successful have showcased capabilities like fast learning, adaptable to changing landscape and most importantly a strong believer in being hands-on.
Nice to Have:
The following would give you a massive leg up over other candidates -
- Open source contributions
- Experience with modern cloud development practices (microservices architectures, REST interfaces, etc.)
- Experience managing distributed systems like Kafka/Scylla/Cassandra etc.
- Good hands on experience on Database setup, tuning and monitoring
- Linux Certifications - RHCE, AWS/GCP certifications, Kubernetes certifications
- Data Platform operations experience
- Experience with monitoring solutions like DataDog, NewRelic, ELK, Prometheus
