Roles and Responsibilities
Profile requirements:
- M.Tech or B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Mechatronics Engineering with a strong academic record
- Quality Certifications in 6 Sigma, Lean Management or a degree in Quality Management
- Experience of Having worked in a Automotive Electric Vehicle Industry as part of OEM/Component Manufacturer is desirable
- 12-15 years of overall experience of which a minimum 5 years should be in a managerial capacity
- Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, EMI/EMC requirements, AIS requirements
- Knowledge of vehicle features and sensor-actuator functionalities in EV
- Knowledge of high voltage cables, wiring harnesses, connectors, connector standards and connection types (Bosch, Tyco)
- Knowledge of Li-ion battery and battery management system.
- Knowledge of electric motor functionality, motor specifications and quality
- Knowledge of 48V/72V/96V systems
- Knowledge of electric test equipment such as high potential tester, insulation tester, high voltage surge tester
- Sound understanding and inference from diagnostic tools. Assessing quality from multiple vendor diagnostic tools such as of Vehicle ECU, BMS, Junction box
- Knowledge of vehicle calibration for key vehicle functionalities
- System level knowledge of two-wheeler vehicle assembly and testing from mechanical and electrical engineering perspective
- Knowledge of Quality tools such as:
- 7QC tools,
- Fault-tree analysis,
- 8D reports,
- Shainin system,
- Cp-Cpk methodology,
- Stack-up analysis
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering-Vehicle on assembly parts, assembly equipments, engineering drawings
- Knowledge of non-electrical parts quality viz. paint defects, welding, polymer etc.
- Aesthetic quality control using metrology and defining standards for aesthetic quality in consultation with various stakeholders
- Knowledge of safety for safe handling of equipment viz. batteries
- Knowledge of Engineering change notification and ensuring its implementation in-house and from the vendor
- In-house simulation of identified defects and communication to concerned stakeholders.
- Knowledge of homologation controls (for export market)
- Experience in Managing Testing Teams in addition to Quality
- Should have experience in Quality Assurance & Control, New Product Development, Process Development, Field Quality & Vendor Quality Assurance
- Knowledge of all product commodities to handle domestic and exports suppliers in Fabrication, Machining, Proprietaries, Electrical, Hydraulics, Rubber, Plastics, etc.
- Thorough Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Control plan, FMEA, DFM
- Hands on knowledge of SAP Quality module
- In depth Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other standards related to Quality Management system
- Strong Decision Making & Problem Solving Skills
- Good Communication & Inter-Personal Skills
- Knowledge of and hands-on experience with EV specific standards like:
BIS Standards: EVSE, Charging Protocols, EV Charging standards including HV standards etc.
Safety and Security: ISO 6469, IEC 61140, SAE J1766, ISO 17409
Charging Topologies: IEC 61851-1/21/22, GB/T 18487-1
Connector: IEC 62196-2/1, SAE J1772, GB/T 20234.3
Communication: ISO/IEC 15118, SAE J2847, IEC 61851-24
Responsibilities:
Work in co-ordination with stakeholders to ensure quality goals are met towards delivered Product quality. Product other than the Electric Vehicle also includes EV Accessories, Company installed Charging Infrastructure and other infrastructure (eg. Battery Swap etc.), that is provided by the Company to the customers
Develop, implement, and manages processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality prior to delivery
Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products
- Lead and develop state of the art Quality Systems
- Work with R&D teams to establish and drive quality standards and processes for Manufacturing
- Communicate quality standards and parameters to QA, Product Development, Engineering & Manufacturing teams, and other appropriate staff
- Coordinate product testing processes and participate in product testing
Establish standards and drive quality control processes for ensuring bought-out parts & components quality
Identify and analyse issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommend and facilitate solutions to these issues
- Analyse data for understanding the emerging concerns
Assess performance of vendors based on identified criteria and provides technical guidance to the vendor team
Establish standards, improve processes at vendors sites for ensuring proprietary parts and components quality
- Engage with EV Sales & Service teams to deliver quality promise to the end customer
Review customer feedback and decode field complaints. Run simulations to understand the failure mechanism
- Conduct failed part analysis, relevant process compliance review, process spread study for identifying root cause through CFT
- Validate corrective actions for sustenance
- Coordinate implementation of identified actions with speed
- Prepare & maintain necessary documents and conduct audits to ensure compliance with standards
- Ensure data management, analysis & preparation of MIS reports
- Action for horizontal deployment of good engineering & management practices with reference to the analysis
