Assistant/ Manager, Operations
Role Definition
Assistant Manager is responsible for people management and service delivery as per SLA with Client for a technology team
Min. Education / Qualification
A Bachelors degree (or equivalent) OR MBA
Typical Experience
Typically 5-7 years, 2 years Supervisory experience
Responsibility / Accountability
- Managing teams operations :
- Operation Goals as per SOW : As per score card
- Controlling Attrition level of Team
- Holding effective regular meetings with teams and client
- Periodic ops review meeting
- Conducting individual monthly one-on-one productivity reviews
- Managing schedules and attendance
- Managing all aspects of engineer's operational performance and productivity
- Monitoring productivity and providing consistent and timely feedback
- Managing individual and team performance to expectations
- Interfacing with client counterpart managers regarding daily volume, status of the technology, coordinating training, hot issues, etc.
- Line Mgmt :
- Handling employees query related to HR, Finance and other support functions as a first level before escalating to respective department.
- Performance management of team in a fair and timely manner
- Assist with training and identify training needs within the group
- Ensure discipline within the team and timely conflict resolution.
- Motivating and encouraging team members
- Co-ordinate with other functions : During ramp-up and for team related issues
Supervisory Responsibilities
Single Subsystem team (up to 20-25 members)
Reporting Relationship
Report to Manager-Operations or above
Supervision
Minimum supervision - activities driven via goals and assignments and their periodic reviews

- Knowledge of PC and online tools

- Ability to identify dysfunctional behavior in team members - seeks appropriate help to address the same
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to supervise team that they perform their roles effectively - providing effective/timely feedback and help them improve where needed.
- Ability to set proper role + task objectives and do performance management effectively sharing and discussing with team members
- Ability to estimate size / effort / schedule / budget with project requirements not having been specified properly - making appropriate assumptions about items of major impact.
