Portfolio Valuations (PV) is looking for a strong Java developer developing on software for financial applications, including

Applications to process market data (delayed and real-time)

Pricing tools

Client-facing and internal web applications

Valuation Engine on a scalable platform

PV deploys back-end and middleware as a service-oriented architecture, and this is accessed by other tools that we maintain including web applications, web services and desktop add-ins.

As well as delivering software of high quality, candidate needs to work towards the team s goals of high test-coverage, automated and frequent deployment, and regular cycles of code delivery, testing and feedback.

The candidate will be required to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and should be strong team player.

The candidate should be comfortable in a fast paced environment and be flexible to adapt to changes.

Duties accountabilities

• Implementation and maintenance of various aspects of IHS Markit s Java-based hosted valuations platform, working within a global team of 20+ developers
• Develop new software, and enhance existing software, to high-standards. Adhere to best practices that enhance user experience, usability, scalability, performance and security.
• Maintain and support the applications, investigating and fixing issues.
• Work with Business Analysts and product specialists to establish requirements.
• Work with the global Portfolio Valuations development team on all aspects of the platform (e.g. infrastructure, architecture, all asset classes)
• Work with Portfolio Valuations product and data specialists across all asset classes, on maintenance and improvements to our data platform

Education and experience

Degree in Computer Science or related field.

5-8 years of experience working on distributed Java platforms and Web Platforms

Strong core Java 8 skills (with good understanding of

multithreading and performance tuning)

Comfortable working with both UNIX/Linux and Windows environments

Strong technical and platform knowledge, including some or all of:

• Micro service/Rest services
• AWS stack
• GitGerrit
• JMX
• JMS, Message Queues
• XML, JAXB, JSON serialization
• Spring, Hibernate
• Multithreading and performance
• Oracle SQL
• Distributed Cache/Computing
• CI/CD

Good understanding of agile software development methodology
