Desired Candidate Profile

Should be a Level 3 expert of SQL Server - All variants

Should have knowledge on Oracle and Sybase database technologies

In place and side by side SQL Server Version Migrations

In place and side by side SQL Server Edition Upgrades

Hardware migrations

Install, configure, and maintain highly reliable database servers for internal and Internet services.

Find root cause and prepare RCA for critical incidents to optimize the system.

Scripts to automate and monitor database health, performance, and security.

Handling disaster recovery activates.

Build and configure new database(s)

Service Packs Installing, upgrading on the database server, Performing Rollback if needed.

Performing security hardening on database servers

Database capacity management

Backup / Recovery and Performance Tuning: Has designed and implemented various backup and recovery strategies on heterogeneous environments. Can recover the database with no or minimal data loss. Can independently tune databases to extract best performance including memory, OS and SQL tuning. Can also groom peers. Will be able to analyse the statistics report and rectify the bottlenecks efficiently with a minimum downtime.

Review Tuning Opportunities Review common tuning points such as cache hit ratio, max memory settings, and other points dealing with memory management. Compare with baseline reports to identify harmful trends or determine impact of recent tuning adjustments.

Look for Harmful Growth Rates Review changes in database files growth when compared to previous reports to identify files with a harmful growth rate.

Perform Tuning and Maintenance Make the adjustments necessary to avoid contention for system resources. 1. Planning and implementing the HR+DR solutions 2. Configuring HA+DR solutions for SQL Server database in Windows Azure. 3. Installation and Configuration of Microsoft Business intelligence tools (SQL Server Integration, SQL Server Reporting services and SQL Server Analysis services) 4. Installation and configuration of SQL Server Data Quality services(DQS) and SQL Server Master Data services. 5. Advising on licensing, EOL & EOS updates 6. Support to application on object level activities.
