Senior Software Site Reliability Engineer @ Microsoft

Key responsibilities:

• Live Site Management We need to keep our big data systems and end to end processes working at high availability and performance, along with world level security. As an SRE you will be part of a global team driving 24x7 incident and problem management for high impact incidents, and ensuring highest level security and compliance in close collaboration with engineering team

• Work closely with engineering team for change management for Holiday and promotional events and ensuring ongoing partnership with other partner teams.
• Observability - Identify system problems and recommend monitoring solutions & automation to improve processing efficiency and stability.
• Automation As our Supply chain big data is huge and is expected to keep growing rapidly, we are committed to deliver automation, tooling and platform to deliver operational excellence to enab;e world class production data engineering and analytics offerings
• Design - Evaluate and contribute to our Supply chain big data platform and services design and architecture, help shape Site Reliability Engineering strategies, review specifications, design and improve upon core processes

• Data driven - You will be data driven in measuring, improving our Service health OKR s the Supply Chain Data engineering and analytics team. Analyze infrastructure telemetry/system data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and address points of failure. Lead the Design discussions for Reliable Platform offering.
• Community Building - Help us build and contribute to a strong Supply chain engineering community bringing unique value proposition from SRE engagements. Engage in technical communities, build automated self-help solutions, design, review and drive Secure by Design practices. Stay current on latest Azure/Cloud innovations to conduct experiments, drive improvements, and act as subject matter trainer for your team

Knowledge, experience and skills:

• A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
• 7+ year experience with Big Data Cloud Services and technologies (Azure Big data services, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka, Oozie or other similar technologies. Solid understanding of data modeling, data design and persistence (e.g. warehousing, data marts, data lakes).
• Excellence in software site reliability engineering practices incident and support management, observability, security, reliability, monitoring, capacity & cost management. Demonstrated experience with above to increase development velocity and Service heath.
• 5+ Experience with automation with two or more of programming languages/tools : C#, Java, Python, Ruby, Scala, SQL and scripting (Java, Python, Spark, SQL, Hive, JavaScript, Shell), Scripts.

Working knowledge Application insights, PowerBi technologies, SQL (SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL (Cosmos/MongoDB/HBase) databases

• Familiar with continuous integration, unit and functional testing practices, and continuous deployment systems.

• Customer mindset: Great team player with strong communication, analytical & problem solving skills driving efficient incidents & problem management within SLA s, reducing support cost through automation, working with partners for defining SLA s for end to end critical processes, taking initiatives for recommendations and land priorities across customers, partners, senior executives and across organizational boundaries.
