Software Engineer 2 (Office of Chief) @ Microsoft

We are seeking a solid software engineer with an interest in economics and machine learning to work on technology transfer attempts and data platform development. Candidate should have demonstrable experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software products and services at scale. Candidate should have a strong enthusiasm to solve problems across the full stack and work effectively in an agile software development set up.

Candidate will gain an understanding of the research incubation and aid in technology transfer attempts, contributing to development and maintenance of software tools / products / services. Prepare data for analysis by authoring / modifying extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines. Develop adequate working knowledge of changes in industry advancements and percolate it into product development. Own research of tools, technologies, and methods to improve deliverable quality, performance, or efficiency. Produce and participate in the creation of thorough documentation (like technical specs) during the course of development. Function in a highly collaborative, agile software development environment by leveraging opportunities to apply engineering solutions to business problems.

Minimum :

Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science (or) Equivalent Practical Experience

4+ years of experience with Software Development in one or more systems programming languages (C#, JAVA, C++, or equivalent) and with data structures and algorithms

Strong communication skills including demonstrable experience working with technical customers.

Preferred:

Hands-on experience with the core tools, frameworks, and libraries for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning development (PyTorch, TensorFlow, sklearn, Pandas, Jupyter Notebooks, etc.)

Strong relational database and SQL skills with working knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments (such as Cosmos DB, Apache Beam, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, MapReduce, Flume).

Strong enthusiasm to solve problems across the full stack and work effectively in an agile software development set up.
