Job Description

  • The lead security architect will partner with relevant stakeholders and work to define, design and implement security systems and solutions commensurate with enterprise risk and threat mitigation priorities as communicated by the CISO and leadership team.
  • The security architect will work to enable business priorities by navigating complex IT and engineering systems and workflows, identify and recommend solutions that address and mitigate threats across various layers of network, compute, storage and hybrid / multi-cloud technologies as to align both within IT and across enterprise business functions on practical and effective architecture solutions and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in a lead role with various business and IT stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) with an ability to navigate ambiguity and lead to review, assess, evaluate and recommend the balanced appropriation of security controls and functions holistically and contextually across various technology layers and services
  • Create and maintain security architecture standards and referenceable patterns seek consistency
  • Relationships - build and foster business and technology partner relationships to establish trust, inform and clearly articulate the importance of sound security solutions and business enablement
  • Through assessment and evaluation of existing controls and security solutions, identify and recommend options to increase efficiency and efficacy
  • Provide security technical and procedural subject matter expertise & thought leadership across and between the various security domains and drive for contextual patterns and such as encryption (in-transit, at-rest), network security, identity services and hybrid/cloud deployments
  • Interpret and understand enterprise and IT strategic objectives as to directionally influence and align security architecture
  • Engage with security team peers as a lead as to provide cohesion, pragmatism and clarity to addressing complex challenges across and between security domains/layers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12-15 years of practical working experience in a security engineering and/or architecture role, preferably in high-tech industry. Other IT and practical technical experience will be considered
  • Technical depth and knowledge in network architecture & security, identity and related services, access and authentication, encryption practices and implementation, and / or direct expertise with various security solutions and technical controls including but not limited to CASB, SWG/SSE/SASE, network advanced protections, SIEM and / or cloud (hybrid & cloud native)
  • Skill and experience in planning, directional oversight and the coordination of team resources and execution of actions to address security intent and objectives
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with strong leadership attributes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both to technical and management/executive audiences
  • Experience with security frameworks including NIST CSF and MITRE ATT&CK and the utilization of them to measure maturity, efficacy, identify gaps and calibrate controls and capabilities
  • Customer-focused mindset, with demonstrated skill in managing expectations, providing proactive status updates, and producing high-quality work product
  • Proven track record and ability to being forward pragmatic solutions that address technology, people (resources) and processes while ensuring effectiveness and operational sustainability of deployed solutions and controls across the enterprise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active security certification(s): One or more of the following: CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CRISC, CCSP and/or SANS
  • Experience in a federated organizational model with the ability to build consensus across domains
  • Practical experience with threat modeling
