Senior Infrastructure Engineer ( IT ) - @ more retail

The IT Infrastructure Engineer manages all aspects of the IIG business network, and is responsible for evaluating and maintaining server and network performance across the hosted and on-premise IT Infrastructure as well as being proactive in ensuring that IIG IT Infrastructure is secure, protected and up to date in the face of known and emerging cyber threats

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Design, build and run systems for application deployment, systems orchestration and configuration management.

• Deploy and configure server infrastructure via configuration management tools and associated toolkits for both Microsoft and Apple

• Leverage Continuous Deployment methodologies to implement build and deployment pipelines.

• Testing, debugging and troubleshooting of platform level problems.

• Support the production platform and provide incident troubleshooting, problem solving and resolution.

• Plan and execute IT infrastructure projects.

• Maintain and monitor all network, security and computer systems to meet the organizations current and future requirements

• Responsible for management, maintenance and architecture of storage, virtualised environment, servers, network devices, and productivity tools

• Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively

• Work within strict time frames and elevate incidents within defined timeframes

• Test all changes to networks, hardware, software, and hosted applications

• Work with various vendors and service providers to ensure a productive environment

• Resolve issues and prepare status reviews and reports

• Maintain the necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds and modifications

• Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends

• Maintain good working relationships with all service providers and vendors to ensure that services received meet expected requirements of contract

• Supporting global internal information security audits

Role-specific skills, knowledge and experience

• Strong background in a generalist 3rd Line Technical Support Engineer / Consulting role

• Experience with configuration management tools (Jamf, InTune, SCCM).

• Solid experience with and the ability to deploy configure at least some of the following: Microsoft Product Set (Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, SQL etc)

• TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting

• Virtualisation (VMWare or Hyper-V), SANs and other related technologies

• Backup Products such as Veeam and RSync

• Firewall technologies such as Meraki

• Good working knowledge of IAM products such as OneLogin, Okta, MS Azure

• Deploying and configuring into a Cloud environment. (GCP, AWS, Azure)

• Successful delivery of a range of IT projects.

• Understanding of application deployment strategies and Continuous Deployment methodologies.

• Solid technical background in a hosted services environment including infrastructure networks, hardware, software and telecommunications

• Experience with incident ticketing systems, workstation management systems and desktop imaging.

• Solid knowledge of information security principles and practices.

• Familiarity with application and operating system hardening, vulnerability assessments, security audits, penetration testing, intrusion prevention systems and other security control systems.

• Experience using automated monitoring tools

• Ability to identify incident trends in order to elevate incidents in accordance with standard protocols

• Ability to work in a team environment

• Good analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

• Good attention to detail, testing and documentation

• Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices

• Ability to maintain good working relationships with third party service providers and vendors

• Strong oral and written communication skills
