Job Description
What you ll do:
- Primarily responsible for the maintenance and administration of the IBM iSeries (servers, multiple partitions), and Linux servers including, device management, system configuration, system security, backup and restore, file transfer integration, Hardware, OS upgrades and PTF management.
- System Health check on Disk status of ASP & CPU Utilization
- Monitor and control jobs and output queues
- Scheduling batch Jobs in IBM Job Scheduler.
- Change and Delete profiles according to job responsibilities
- Assign authorization to group, user profiles and Monitoring High Privileged users
- Monitoring the Jobs and history logs.
- Clearing all the Libraries, Stale OLD Library & Objects
- Deletion of Performance Data & Users Spools from OUTQ & Writers
- Manage system devices and printers and deletions of Spools related to Batch Jobs.
- Manage system supplied values and change factory settings
- Checking and initializing Tapes and knowledge about tape management.
- Clearing the Job schedule entries.
- Verification of backup Log (SYS / NONSYS-Entire System backup).
- HMC log in and iseries navigator.
- Validate Daily/Weekly/Monthly Backup s and prepare Weekly and monthly Reports
- Physical check of Assets and Server inventory
- Monitoring the Critical message for SYSOPR / SECOFR / QCONSOLE & for Job Log.
- Load & Applying PTF s.
- Backup, Restore Media Services (BRMS) and Verification of backup Log
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years of Experience in IBM iSeries Hardware and Linux (Redhat and CentOS) Administrator
- Solid understanding of AS400 system administration, user administration, file/directory permissions, LVM, maintenance of software and system patches, TCP/IP concepts, NFS, NIS, DNS, storage concepts, performance tuning.
- Good understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux derivatives (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Linux, etc.).
- Practical experience in deployment, management, and troubleshooting of Linux in physical and virtual environments
- Working knowledge of virtualization and cloud computing concepts and technologies
- Working knowledge of virtualized infrastructure environments (VMware, Nutanix AHV, Hyper-V, etc.).
- The ability to resolve common virtual machine and host server bottlenecks
