Job Description
We are looking to hire an experienced Endoscopy Staff Nurse to provide assistance to nurses in providing patient care as per established standards norms and practices.
Roles & Responsibilities
1.Overall Responsibility
- Check inventory of the assigned unit / Consulting rooms and report any discrepancies to the Team Leader/ Deputy Nursing Officer
- Ensure that the consulting rooms are kept ready with all necessary articles/equipments for the scheduled OPD
- Receive patients and relatives to the department, check whether they are here for first visit or follow up visit and guide them accordingly
- Check the vital signs, Height, Weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) when required.
- Ensure that the patients are attended to and escorted to the consulting rooms
- Assist the doctor as required during consultation / procedures
- Provide education to the patient and relative regarding Diet, Medication and follow up
- Assist the patient to get the investigations/procedures done in the hospital at the earliest
- Guide the patient and relatives to different departments and escort them if needed.
- Check and ensure that all investigation reports are available in the patient's file for the consultant to review during follow up visits
- Assist patients in meeting nutritional/elimination needs as required
- Indent and receive departmental requirements in coordination with the team leader
- Escorts patient/relative to the casualty department in case of any emergency.
- Transport patient within hospital for treatment and or procedure
2. Inventory, Equipment & supplies
- Checks stock of disposable/supplies reports needs to team leader/Nurse incharge.
3. Specific Responsibility
- Arrange and assist for endoscopies
- Keep the folders ready for procedure
- Receive the patient to the department for procedure as per protocol
- Ensure that the consent for procedure is obtained and the necessary preparations for the procedure has been done
- Document the initial assessment findings in the nurses notes
- Check the patients records for any changes, special orders etc
- Receive the patient to the recovery area after the procedure
- Monitor the patient closely, document findings and inform doctor sos
- Ensure replacement of medicines and consumables used from the departmental stock
- Complete documentation of findings, investigations done, procedures carried out and the treatment given to the patient according to hospital protocol
- Ensure that the scopy report with CD is ready and handed over to the patient /admitting unit
- Shift the patients to the admitting unit as per Hospital Policy
- Ensure the comfort of the patient and family at all times
- Inform any special events during the shift to the Nurse Manager / DNO
- Ensure all the procedures performed are charged on the same day/ before the patient leaves the department
- Ensure that the biopsy sample is well handled and transferred to the pathology department without delay
You Should Have
- GNM/PBBSc/BSc/MSc Nursing with minimum 0-3 years of clinical experience.
- Sound Knowledge of bedside nursing.
- Knowledge of quality and NABH is an added advantage.
- Good communication and people skills.
