Role and Responabilities:

Data base administrator

Create and maintaining database standards and policies

Support Yugabyte creation and testing activities

Support application team migration to Yugabyte YCQL and YSQL APIs from SQL server, Cassandra and PostgreSQL

Managing the database availability and performance troubleshooting, including incident and problem management

Administer database objects to achieve optimum utilization

Troubleshoot database performance issues and database security

Engage App team and Advices on migration strategy to adopt

Performing database housekeeping, such as tuning, indexing, etc.

Monitoring usage, transaction volumes, response times, concurrency levels, etc.

Documentation of Yugabyte processes, known errors, How tos on confluence as it relates to internal Kroger applications

Designing database backup, archiving strategy

Perform test restore from time to time

Engage weekly with vendor (office hours) on ongoing issues and concerns
