For more than 25 years, Ciena has been the global leader in networking strategy, and our technology has been part of the critical infrastructure running within the most advanced companies in the world.What will you do at CienaThe Packet Software and Access R&D organization is responsible for delivering platform- independent Service Aware Operating System (SAOS) and Access products to support Mobile Backhaul, Enterprise, NFV and White- box based applications in access and aggregation tiers of the network.
Gurgaon R&D center has seen exponential growth in various dimensions including development, test and release planning. In last 6 years, Gurgaon test team has grown to be the largest team across globe having ownership of multiple PSA products/ releases. Team has huge state- of- art engineering lab in Gurgaon and real time exposure to Tier- 1 service provider network deployments.
SIT team charter is to work closely with PLM, product line architects, sales engineers, customer account teams and various product test teams to review, validate and characterize deployment use- cases representative of deployments at major customers. This team is accountable for the end quality of release. As service architecture and technologies continue to evolve in service provider networks, team will work with solution architects to develop network migration strategy to next generation products and software solutions.
As part of this team, you will be getting exciting opportunity to work on myriad of technology. You will be challenged to mimic the customer deployment and environment in lab set up. You will design large testbeds and develop tools to monitor and troubleshoot the network. You will play influential role in developing field deployment practices.
Responsibilities
Develop manual and automation test strategy to characterize and validate customer use- cases; flexible enough to adapt to evolving brownfield architecture
Develop end- to- end solution test plans, spanning across Ciena Networking, NMS and 3rd party peering network elements, to cover widespan of deployed topologies
Work requires rigorous testing of topologies, resiliency mechanisms, automation of operational monitoring mechanisms etc. including generation of reports, MOPs, and supporting analysis and resolution of field issues
Work closely with PLM, embedded software, network management software, product validation testing and customer facing teams to identify potential customer use- cases for new functionalities being introduced in various Ciena products
Build in- depth knowledge of
Ciena NMS and Networking products and ability to root- cause network level issues
Coordinate with North America test and development teams on a need basis
Collaboration with stakeholders
R&D Software and Product Validation teams for Ciena Networking products
R&D Software and Product Validation teams for Ciena NMS software
PLM and Product Architects for Ciena Networking and NMS products
Customer Accounts team
Field Support teams
Experience / Skill Required
Around 10 years of experience with BE/ B.Tech./ M.Tech. (EE/ CS) Degree
Ability to understand customers needs, expectations and perspective. Hands- on experience in managing customer networks
Demonstrated hands- on testing and troubleshooting expertise with Network Management Systems including knowledge of SNMP & MIBs
Hands- on scripting experience with REST API and GUI automation
Good understanding of networking protocols; OAM (CFM, BFD, FRR), Layer 2 (TDM, LAG, ERPS, MPLS- TP/ TE) and Layer 3 Protocols (ISIS, OSPF, BGP, IPv6)
Position requires proficient troubleshooting and problem- solving skills
Lead by example: Capability to provide technical leadership and demonstrate best practices to peer test engineers
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
Must be a motivated, self- starter with strong commitment to product excellence
Hands on experience on third party boxes like Cisco would be a significant plus
