A software designer is required to aid in the development of a Cloud based/ Web based network design and engineering application for Network Planning. This application is developed for Ciena s leading edge Optical, Switching and Packet Networks. The application will assist customers in the design and development of SONET/ SDH, OTN & Optical DWDM networks featuring Ciena s market leading and pioneering optical products and technologies. This application is used to design and deploy Ciena s Transport, Switching and Packet hardware for Long haul, Regional and Metro networks.
Responsibilities
Analysis, software design and implementation of Web based User Interface based on UX designs, Core functionality and framework to help validate and optimize DWDM, SONET/ SDH, OTN based networks, which are designed based on a variety of parameters.
Perform project management functions, including effort estimation and scheduling, resource allocation, goal setting and project tracking.
Apply design principles to work in a micro- service based development environment, keeping in mind performance and memory constraints.
General Activities
Complete development tasks including unit testing and documenting work
Troubleshooting and debugging of reported issues
Keep yourself abreast with latest technology trends
Provide leadership as a key routing system architect for BGP, OSPF, IS- IS and MPLS capabilities working with a team to deliver virtualized components, new L3 capabilities, and advanced services models such as EVPN
Lead and participate in software architecture, design, development, validation, and documentation to deliver high quality, functionally excellent products
Drive integration with enabling technologies including third party software, virtual and distributed SDN and NFV environments, and hardware capabilities
Act as a technical leader, role model and mentor to company s technical community
Collaboration with stakeholders
Work collaboratively with Product Owner, Product Line Manager (PLM) and Verification
Areas of impact
The successful candidate will be expected follow a disciplined approach to software development in order to ensure that the application is delivered with high quality, to the required specifications, and by the required delivery date
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of engineers and software designers and will gain firsthand experience developing software on the Cloud technologies, React.js, Ember.js, Python etc.

End- to- end software development (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and support) - Critical
Languages
React.js, Ember.js - Critical
Dynamic Languages - Scala, Python - Critical
Knowledge of Dockers, Linux, JS - Desirable
C#.Net, OOPS - Desirable
