- Job Title: WooCommerce Developer/Lead Location: Remote Job Type: 3-6 months contract Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced WooCommerce Developer/Manager to manage a large-scale WooCommerce store with over 25,000 products and multiple variants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in WordPress development, database optimization, and server configuration, with a focus on high performance and scalability. Key Responsibilities: 1. WooCommerce Setup and Management: Manage and optimize a WooCommerce store with 25,000+ products and 5 variants each. Implement efficient search, filtering, and navigation for a large catalog. 2. Server Configuration and Optimization: Configure hosting environments (VPS, Cloud, or Dedicated Servers) for high performance. Optimize server resources including CPU, RAM, and storage for scalability. 3. Database Optimization: Optimize MySQL databases for handling large product catalogs. Perform regular database maintenance and troubleshooting. 4. Performance Optimization: Configure object caching systems like Redis or Memcached. Implement CDN (e.g., Cloudflare, BunnyCDN) for faster content delivery. Optimize PHP configurations (memory limits, execution times, input vars). 5. Search and Filtering: Implement advanced search functionality using tools like ElasticPress or SearchWP. Set up faceted search and filtering for user-friendly navigation. 6. Image and Media Optimization: Use tools like Smush, ShortPixel, or Imagify to compress images. Ensure all product images are optimized for WebP format. 7. Scalability and Monitoring: Plan and implement autoscaling solutions for traffic spikes. Monitor performance with tools like Query Monitor, New Relic, or other monitoring platforms. 8. Plugin and Theme Development: Customize and develop plugins or themes as needed to meet business requirements. Ensure compatibility with the latest WordPress and WooCommerce updates. 9. Security and Maintenance: Implement security best practices to safeguard the website. Perform regular backups and updates of the website, plugins, and themes. 10. Collaboration and Reporting: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with marketing and sales tools. Provide detailed reports on website performance, uptime, and scalability. Required Skills and Experience: 1. Technical Skills: Proficiency in WooCommerce and WordPress development. Strong knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience with server management (Linux, Apache/Nginx). 2. Performance Optimization: Hands-on experience with caching tools (Redis, Memcached). Familiarity with CDN configuration (Cloudflare, BunnyCDN). Knowledge of database optimization techniques. 3. Search and Filtering: Experience with tools like ElasticPress, FacetWP, or similar plugins. 4. Scalability: Proven experience handling large-scale WooCommerce stores (20,000+ products). Familiarity with cloud hosting solutions like AWS, Google Cloud, or DigitalOcean. 5. Tools and Technologies: Familiarity with monitoring tools (Query Monitor, New Relic). Experience with image optimization tools like Smush or ShortPixel. 6. Soft Skills: Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to manage deadlines and deliver projects on time. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience managing eCommerce stores with large product catalogs. Familiarity with managed WordPress hosting providers (Kinsta, WP Engine, SiteGround). Knowledge of SEO best practices for WooCommerce stores.
