Job Description
We are looking for a talented and passionate Mechanical Design Engineer who is eager to work in the Special Purpose Machinery (SPM) sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing machinery tailored to specific industrial applications. The role demands creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise to design and build unique machinery solutions that meet customer requirements, while ensuring efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop special-purpose machinery (SPM), customized equipment, and automated systems for specific industrial processes.
Collaborate closely with clients and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, specifications, and design constraints.
Create 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, and design documentation using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
Develop and optimize machine concepts, mechanisms, and components, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and cost requirements.
Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and risk assessments for new machine designs.
Select appropriate materials and components for designs, ensuring compatibility and reliability for long-term operation.
Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other necessary simulations to ensure the structural integrity and performance of designs.
Lead prototype development, assembly, and testing of designs to verify functionality and performance before mass production.
Oversee the assembly, installation, and commissioning of designed machinery at customer sites.
Troubleshoot design and technical issues during the production, assembly, and testing phases.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance guidelines in all designs.
Maintain and update technical documentation for machine designs, including operation manuals, assembly guides, and maintenance instructions.
Provide support for machinery upgrades and retrofitting of existing systems to improve functionality and efficiency.
Work closely with manufacturing, assembly, and production teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production.
Qualifications:
B.E/ Diploomo in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Masters degree is a plus).
0-8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in special purpose machinery (SPM) or related industries (e.g., automation, material handling, robotics).
Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools for 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation.
Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
Familiarity with motion control, servo systems, and robotics is a plus.
Experience in structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) using tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar software.
Understanding of mechanical tolerances, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and material selection for robust machine design.
Familiarity with PLC programming and basic electrical systems for automation applications is an added advantage.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex designs and concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a keen attention to detail and deadlines.
