What will you do at CienaCIENA's Packet products portfolio comprises of a broad family of products for access and aggregation tiers of the network. Typically spanning from the Metro edge to the customer edge , these products provide Carrier Ethernet/ MPLS/ G.8032/ TDM services in mobile backhaul , enterprise and residential domains.
The Packet Software and Access R&D organization is responsible for delivering platform - independent Service Aware Operating System (SAOS) , Access products and next - generation virtualized operating system to support Virtualized/ SDN/ NFV applications.
PV engineer will be responsible for developing solution test strategies , test plans , and test execution for platform - independent current and next - generation packet software encompassing the broad spectrum of CIENA's networking products. You will get an opportunity to innovate and influence new technologies that shape the future of Next Generation networks.
Responsibilities
Requires continuous research to ensure software features meet identified standards , product marketing/ functional requirements and customer solutions
Develop , execute and automate solution test plans to validate customer use - cases and product capabilities
Execution of test cases and reporting test results with artifacts using Quality Center (QC)
Work closely with engineers from embedded software , network management software , and hardware teams to validate cohesive end - to - end solutions
Build in - depth knowledge of product architecture and develop ability to root - cause issues
Coordinate activities with North America test and development teams on a need basis
FS and test plan review: Able to host test plan reviews for assigned features , as well as to contribute to test plan reviews held by other team members. Attend independently and provide comments for the functional requirements and/ or those relating to commercial specifications/ RFCs for FS reviews
Develop test cases beyond what is described in FS , including compliancy to commercial specs and RFCs , potential and likely interactions with other features , which may involve complex scenarios and topology

Contributes (may take lead role) on a project team of engineers involved in the release and test of software. Quickly comes up to speed in understanding of advanced concepts/ methodology and contributes to improving and extending the impact and effectiveness of those concepts or new approaches to the current project
Conducts knowledge sharing sessions (Critical): Moderate to complex topics , including smaller protocol or RFC related information , specific functional area presentations or methods of procedures. Topics not product related that may help enhance process or efficiency , such introduction to new tools for testers
Experience
BE / B.Tech. (EE/ CS) Degree
We re looking for an experienced individual interested in progressing their career in Carrier Ethernet and/ or Network Virtualization , Automation test
In - depth knowledge of real world network topologies in Carrier/ Metro Ethernet Space
Deep understanding of Ethernet and GMPLS related protocols
Hands - on/ testing experience in at least 3 of the following domains: Carrier Ethernet , MPLS , G.8032 , TDM , OSPF , BGP , NFV , SDN
Experience with Ixia/ Spirent traffic generators
Automation experience in Tcl/ Python will be plus
