About Role PV engineer is responsible for the execution of the product verification (PV) phase for a Cloud based/Web based network design and engineering application for Network Planning. As a Platform Tester at Ciena, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our networking systems, services, and software platforms. You will be responsible for testing and validating various aspects of our platforms to ensure they meet the highest standards of performance, functionality, and scalability. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality products. Software Testing Experienced with PV activities relating to test planning, automation, and tests execution for telecom products Proficiency in development of test strategy, test planning, manual & automation test development and execution Experienced in manual & automation test execution of NMS/EMS based telecom products Worked in an Agile development environment with experience testing either In-scrum or customer vertical use cases, executing cross functional workflows using API micro services Understanding of solution, system performance, load and stress testing Knowledge of bug tracking tools and defect management processes Technical Proficiency in testing cloud-based or web-based applications, with hands-on experience in at least one of the following: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, or other platform based SaaS/Cloud environments Experience in testing networking systems, platforms, or software applications Experience with Microservice Based Architecture: Dockers, Containers, various DevOps tools Working knowledge of Enterprise based network management software solutions in a Unix/Linux/VM/Cloud based environment Development experience of Python, JavaScript, Postman and Selenium Knowledge of Unix based scripting tools including Perl Knowledge of databases like Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra and data formats like JSON Knowledge of Web Sockets, Authentication, Web Security Responsibilities Conduct compatibility testing to ensure the platform works seamlessly across different operating systems, browsers, and devices. Perform performance testing to evaluate the platform's response time, scalability, and resource usage under various load conditions. Evaluate the platform's user interface, navigation, and overall user experience to ensure it is intuitive, easy to use, and meets the needs of its intended users. Test the platform for stability, fault tolerance, and error handling to ensure it can handle unexpected situations and recover gracefully. Verify the platform's compliance with accessibility standards and guidelines, making it accessible to users with disabilities. Verify compliance with industry regulations or standards, if applicable. Review and verify platform documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting resources. Soft Skills Excellent communication and inter-personal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experienced in coordination of activities between global teams Team player and leader to enable wholesome participation and growth within the team Independent self-starter and committed to delivering on aggressive deadlines Comfortable in a team environment with ability to lead or to work with little supervision Ability to prioritize within the scope of responsibility, multi-task and manage time effectively Self-motivated and pro-active with attention to detail Desirable Characteristics Experience with Agile software development methodologies Knowledge of general software Product Verification process and methodologies Work with Lab teams to expand the lab to procure test sets, servers, non-revs, etc. Confer with software engineering team to resolve problems related to specifications and associated test plans/procedures Work with customer certification test group on all levels of testing: component level testing, module level testing, system level testing, network level testing Perform continuous process improvement via the Test Escape Analysis process (TEA) Work with strategic CIENA product partners to ensure coordination throughout the PV cycle Work collaboratively with Product Owner, Product Line Manager (PLM) and development Must have ability to understand customers perspective Keep abreast with latest technology trends Not ready to apply Join our Talent Community to get relevant job alerts straight to your inbox.
