- Overview The AWS Data Engineer plays a critical role in building and maintaining the infrastructure for data generation, data processing, and data storage. This position is essential for ensuring the quality, reliability, and accessibility of data used for analytics and decision-making across the organization. As businesses increasingly rely on data-driven insights, the responsibilities of the AWS Data Engineer will contribute significantly to the optimization of data models, data pipelines, and data processing workflows. The engineer will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate those into data architecture solutions that meet business needs. Leveraging AWS technologies, the engineer will facilitate the efficient processing and analysis of large datasets while ensuring data governance and compliance with regulatory standards. This role is pivotal in enhancing data accessibility and performance, ultimately supporting the organization's strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities Design and implement scalable data pipelines on AWS. Develop ETL processes for extracting, transforming, and loading data. Optimize SQL queries for performance and efficiency. Manage and monitor data flow to ensure accuracy and reliability. Utilize AWS services such as S3, Redshift, and Glue for data storage and processing. Collaborate with data scientists to understand data requirements and analytics needs. Maintain data models and ensure compliance with data governance standards. Implement data validation and quality checks throughout data lifecycle. Assist in the migration of on-premise databases to the cloud. Develop and maintain documentation for data architecture and processes. Analyze data usage patterns to enhance data architecture. Provide support for troubleshooting data issues and performance problems. Stay updated with the latest AWS services and data engineering technologies. Work closely with cross-functional teams to align data strategies with business goals. Participate in Agile development processes and engage in sprint planning. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role. Proven experience with AWS cloud services, specifically in data solutions. Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems. Experience with ETL tools and processes. Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python or R. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and architecture. Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark. Understanding of data security and compliance frameworks. Ability to design and implement data models based on business requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills for working with stakeholders. Experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies. Certifications in AWS or data engineering are a plus. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
