- A Senior Production Manager in the FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) industry is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing and production processes of FRP products, ensuring that they meet quality standards, production timelines, and cost efficiency. Here are typical job requirements for this role: Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Certification or training in production management, quality control, or similar fields can be an advantage. Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in production management within the FRP, composites, or related industries. Proven experience in managing large-scale production teams and multiple production lines. Experience in FRP manufacturing processes such as filament winding, pultrusion, hand layup, and resin infusion. Previous roles may include Production Supervisor, Production Manager, or Manufacturing Manager in the composites or plastic industries. Key Skills: Technical Knowledge: Expertise in FRP production techniques and the materials involved (fiberglass, resin systems, additives). Understanding of manufacturing processes, automation, and modern production technologies. Knowledge of safety standards in handling chemicals, resins, and fiberglass. Leadership & Management: Strong leadership skills to manage production teams, including engineers, operators, and technicians. Experience in staff training, performance management, and conflict resolution. * Quality Control: Proficiency in quality control procedures and standards specific to FRP products. Ability to analyze production data and implement corrective actions when quality issues arise. Familiarity with industry standards, such as ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), ISO certifications, and other compliance regulations. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Excellent problem-solving skills to handle production challenges, machinery breakdowns, and material issues. Ability to develop contingency plans to meet production goals despite unforeseen problems. Cost Management: Experience in budgeting, controlling production costs, and identifying opportunities for cost-saving. Ability to track material consumption and optimize material usage to reduce waste. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting to senior management, coordinating with other departments, and interacting with customers. Ability to work with cross-functional teams like procurement, sales, and R&D. Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations. Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and training sessions for team members. Key Responsibilities: Production Planning: Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines. Team Leadership: Supervise and guide production teams, providing training and fostering a positive work environment. Process Optimization: Implement improvements to enhance productivity, reduce defects, and streamline manufacturing processes. Inventory Management: Oversee raw materials and inventory levels to ensure timely production. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet the required standards and specifications. Cost Control: Manage production budgets, track spending, and optimize resource utilization. Troubleshooting: Resolve any issues related to machinery, equipment, or materials that could affect production. Health and Safety: Enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for the production team. Desirable Skills: Knowledge of ERP systems like SAP or similar tools for production planning and management. Familiarity with composite materials and their properties, including resin systems, curing methods, and finishing processes. Experience with advanced production technologies such as automated fiberglass layup, molding, or 3D printing for composite parts. This role requires someone who is not only technically skilled but also an effective manager with the ability to balance quality, productivity, safety, and cost management in a fast-paced environment.
