Job Description
- Develop Structural BIM Models: Create and maintain accurate 3D models of structural components such as beams, columns, slabs, foundations, and other structural elements using BIM software (e.g., Revit, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD). Collaborate with Structural Engineers: Work closely with structural engineers to understand and implement design specifications, ensuring that the BIM models reflect the latest structural designs and calculations. Clash Detection & Resolution: Use BIM tools (e.g., Navisworks, Revit) to perform clash detection and resolve conflicts between structural components and other building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.). Coordinate with Other Disciplines: Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the structural models are properly integrated into the broader building design. Update and Maintain Models: Regularly update and revise the structural models based on design changes, project revisions, or site conditions. Generate Structural Drawings and Reports: Produce detailed structural drawings (plans, sections, elevations, and details) directly from the BIM models, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards and building codes. Assist in Model Optimization: Support structural engineers in optimizing the design for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and constructability. Prepare Project Documentation: Assist in the preparation of material schedules, rebar schedules, and other documentation required for project delivery from the BIM model. Ensure Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all structural models comply with local building codes, regulations, and client specifications. Assist with Scheduling & Cost Estimation: Support the 4D (construction scheduling) and 5D (cost estimation) BIM processes by providing accurate model data to assist with project planning and management. Maintain BIM Standards & Quality Control: Ensure that all structural models adhere to company and industry standards, performing regular quality control checks to ensure the integrity of the BIM model. Requirements: Education: Bachelors degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Experience: Proven experience as a Structural BIM Modeler or in a similar role within the structural engineering, architecture, or construction industry. Proficient in BIM Software: Strong working knowledge of BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, and other relevant structural modeling software. Structural Knowledge: In-depth understanding of structural engineering principles, including design and analysis of structural systems such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry. Clash Detection & Coordination: Experience with clash detection tools and techniques to identify and resolve conflicts between structural systems and other building components. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in the creation and management of structural models, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design specifications. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineers, architects, and other project team members. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues or discrepancies within the BIM model and suggest effective solutions in collaboration with the project team. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications: Autodesk Revit, Tekla Structures, or other BIM software certifications. Advanced BIM Knowledge: Experience with BIM for 4D scheduling (time simulation) and 5D cost estimation. Software Familiarity: Familiarity with additional tools such as Navisworks, Dynamo, or BIM 360 for coordination, clash detection, and parametric modeling. Structural Codes & Standards: Knowledge of structural design codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, Eurocodes). Building Information Modeling (BIM) Protocols: Understanding of BIM protocols and standards such as ISO 19650 and BIM execution plans. Job Type: Full-time,
