- Job Title: Wardboy Department: Healthcare / Medical Services Reports To: Ward Supervisor / Nurse in Charge Location: Nagpur Job Summary: The Wardboy is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day non-medical operations of the hospital or healthcare facility. This role involves supporting patients, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring supplies are available, and providing general assistance to the nursing staff and healthcare team to ensure smooth ward operations. Key Responsibilities: Patient Support: Assist patients with basic needs, such as helping them move in and out of beds, assisting with personal hygiene, and supporting them in daily activities. Ensure patients are comfortable by providing them with necessary items like water, blankets, and assisting with feeding when required. Transport patients to and from different departments, such as diagnostic rooms, examination rooms, or other wards. Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, offering a friendly and caring presence. Ward Maintenance: Ensure that the ward and patient areas are clean and tidy at all times. Help in bed making, cleaning of patient rooms, and ensuring proper sanitation and hygiene standards are maintained. Assist in changing bed linens and ensuring a supply of fresh linens and towels is always available. Supply Management: Ensure that medical supplies, equipment, and consumables like gloves, bandages, and other non-medical items are stocked and available. Help with organizing the wards storage areas and ensuring that all materials are easily accessible. Report any shortages or issues with supplies to the Ward Supervisor or Nursing Staff. Assisting Nurses and Doctors: Assist nursing staff with transporting medical equipment and assisting with basic medical procedures, under supervision. Help with carrying medical charts, documents, or other important items for doctors and nurses. Follow any instructions provided by the healthcare team, ensuring patient care is consistent and efficient. Handling Requests: Respond to patient requests in a timely manner, ensuring their comfort and well-being. Assist in the coordination of appointments or other activities required by patients. Health & Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for both patients and staff. Adhere to infection control practices to prevent cross-contamination and maintain high standards of cleanliness. Qualifications: Previous experience in a healthcare setting or as a Wardboy is desirable but not mandatory. Basic knowledge of healthcare operations and the ability to follow instructions. Good communication skills, especially in dealing with patients and families. Physical stamina to move patients and equipment, as well as the ability to stand for extended periods. Compassionate, empathetic, and a willingness to assist patients and staff in various tasks. Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read and follow instructions, including hospital forms and guidelines. Working Conditions: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, including patients and equipment. Exposure to healthcare environments, including patient care areas, which may involve contact with infectious materials. Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain a calm demeanor.
