Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects based on available plans, specifications, and historical data. Tender Preparation: Assist in the preparation and submission of tenders, including reviewing contract documents and analyzing project requirements. Material and Labor Estimation: Quantify the materials, labor, and equipment required for each project phase and calculate associated costs. Site Visits: Conduct site visits to assess project scope and gain a better understanding of the site conditions, identifying any potential risks or cost-saving opportunities. Cost Analysis: Evaluate historical project data, vendor quotes, and market trends to ensure cost-effective solutions. Collaboration: Work closely with the project team, including engineers, architects, and suppliers, to gather relevant project details and cost information. Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to costs, resources, and schedules, and propose strategies to mitigate them. Budgeting and Forecasting: Monitor project budgets and provide updated estimates throughout the project lifecycle to ensure cost control. Reporting: Provide detailed reports on cost estimates, including any variances from original estimates and recommendations for adjustments. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in cost estimation within the construction or engineering industry. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes. Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift, or similar tools). Solid understanding of project tendering and procurement processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Estimation or Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS, AACE). Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend). Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and contract law. Working Conditions: Full-time office-based position with occasional site visits. Flexible working hours may be required, particularly during project tendering phases. Some travel may be required for site inspections or meetings.
