Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Lead to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire data migration process, ensuring that data is accurately and efficiently moved from legacy systems to SAP or other enterprise systems. The Data Migration Lead will work closely with project teams, business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency throughout the migration process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Coordination: Lead and manage the data migration team, providing direction, support, and guidance throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Data Migration Strategy: Develop and execute the overall data migration strategy, ensuring that business requirements, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Data Mapping & Transformation: Work closely with business analysts and technical teams to understand data requirements, create data mapping specifications, and manage the data transformation process.
- Data Cleansing & Validation: Oversee data cleansing, transformation, and validation processes to ensure data quality before, during, and after migration.
- Migration Tools & Techniques: Utilize data migration tools, scripts, and best practices to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data to the target system, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Integration with SAP or Other Systems: Ensure seamless integration of migrated data into SAP, ERP, CRM, or other enterprise applications.
- Testing & Validation: Define and manage data migration testing plans, ensuring data integrity and accuracy across all stages of the migration process.
- Risk Management & Issue Resolution: Proactively identify risks and issues associated with data migration and develop mitigation strategies. Resolve migration-related issues quickly and effectively.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication: Work with business users, IT teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication, alignment of expectations, and timely resolution of challenges.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create detailed documentation for data migration procedures, including mapping specifications, migration scripts, and error logs. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on migration progress.
- Post-Migration Support: Provide post-migration support to ensure the stability of data and assist with any issues arising after the migration process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in data migration, including leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading large-scale data migration projects, preferably in the context of SAP, ERP, or CRM systems.
- Expertise in ETL tools (such as SAP Data Services, Informatica, Talend, or similar).
- Strong understanding of data mapping, data cleansing, transformation, and validation processes.
- Experience with data quality management and ensuring data integrity during the migration process.
- Project Management experience, with a good understanding of Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and other enterprise systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex data issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- SAP Data Services or other migration tools (e.g., SAP BODS).
- Experience with cloud-based migration solutions (AWS, Azure).
- Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.).
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
- Knowledge of data security best practices during migration.
