Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Director of Data Engineering to lead our data engineering strategy, drive innovation, and oversee the design, development, and management of our data infrastructure. This executive role involves strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and driving technical excellence to support business growth and data-driven transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data engineering, aligning with business objectives and technological advancements.
- Team Management: Build, mentor, and lead high-performing data engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
- Data Architecture: Oversee the design and implementation of scalable data architectures, with a strong focus on Databricks as the core platform.
- Databricks & Big Data Technologies: Drive the adoption and optimization of Databricks, along with other big data technologies (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Data Governance & Quality: Establish and enforce data governance policies, data quality standards, and compliance measures across all data processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, IT, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
- Presales & Client Engagement: Lead presales activities, including RFP responses, technical presentations, and client discussions to define project scopes and technical solutions.
- Innovation & Trends: Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend innovations to enhance data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
- Performance & Metrics: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of data engineering initiatives, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and quality.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
- Experience:
- 15+ years in data engineering, with 10+ years in leadership roles managing large teams and complex data environments.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, data architecture, and cross-functional leadership.
- Technical Skills:
- Primary: Expertise in Databricks, Apache Spark, and data pipeline development.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Scala, SQL, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Background in data modeling, ETL processes, data warehousing, and advanced analytics.
- Leadership Abilities:
- Strong executive presence with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence and drive change at all organizational levels.
