Sr. CAD Automation Engineer @ Hontrel Technologies

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain CAD automation scripts, macros, custom Add-ins, and plugins to streamline modelling, drawing, and BOM creation of CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, etc.,)
• Write, test, and deploy custom plugins, APIs, and scripts using programming languages such as VB.NET, C# (.NET Framework), C++, and Python.
• Architect and implement custom plugins and integrations for PDM systems to improve data handling, version control, and workflow automation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to CAD models, plugin behavior, or PDM workflows.
• Maintain and extend existing CAD and PDM customizations, ensuring compatibility with software updates and business needs.
• Closely work with design, engineering, software, and IT teams to identify CAD automation and its plugins opportunities and implement best practices.
• Configure options and support files to enhance automation flexibility.
• Implement parametric logic and develop knowledge-based engineering solutions.
• Contribute to project planning, effort estimation, and project management.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• 4~6 years of experience in CAD automation and plugin development.
• Proficiency in one or more CAD software tools/APIs (Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, etc.,).
• Strong programming knowledge in VB.NET, C# (.NET Framework), C++, and Python for CAD automation.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL or MongoDB.
• Experience in integrating CAD automation with PDM/PLM systems; like Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks PDM
• Solid understanding of CAD data structures, configurations, and large assembly management.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and best practices.
• Proficiency in software architecture concepts and design patterns.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
