System Admin - 8-10 years Experience
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior System Administrator with 8 - 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure management. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical expert who thrives in complex environments and is capable of overseeing end-to-end system operations. You will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing our IT systems and infrastructure while leading critical projects and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support physical and virtual servers (Windows and Linux environments).
- Manage core IT services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file/print services, and authentication systems.
Monitor system health and ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of IT infrastructure. - Lead infrastructure projects including server upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Support and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS).
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Troubleshoot escalated system issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Ensure systems adhere to security standards and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with other IT teams (networking, security, applications) to support business needs.
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve system efficiency and security.
- Knowledge of Netapp storage.
- Hands-on knowledge of DC-DR activity.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 810 years of hands-on experience in system administration within IT departments.
- Strong experience with Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022) and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Expertise in managing Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, and file systems.
Proficient in virtualization tools (VMware vSphere, ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V). - Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Solid scripting and automation knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, Python preferred).
- Strong understanding of IT security practices and system hardening.
- Familiar with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, Splunk).
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Acronis).
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Windows Server
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent process knowledge
