About the Role
We are seeking a Instructional Designer (ID) with expertise in K-12 curriculum development to lead a high-impact content and assessment development project. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Common Core, NGSS, Math Standards, and other K-12 educational frameworks and be skilled in designing engaging, rigorous learning experiences and high-quality assessments.
This role requires strong project leadership, cross-functional collaboration with SMEs, writers, designers, and developers, and a relentless focus on quality, client satisfaction, and zero-defect content delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Instructional design and assessment development process for a K-12 curriculum project.
- Coordinate with SMEs, writers, editors, designers, and developers to ensure content aligns with Common Core, NGSS, state standards, and Math frameworks.
- Establish and maintain project timelines, deliverables, and quality benchmarks.
- Provide clear direction, constructive feedback, and mentorship to the project team to ensure best practices in instructional design.
Content & Assessment Development
- Design instructionally sound and engaging K-12 learning experiences that support critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application.
- Develop high-quality assessments (formative, summative, performance-based, and adaptive) that align with learning objectives and state/national standards.
- Ensure assessments accurately measure learning outcomes, cognitive rigor, and student mastery.
- Apply evidence-based instructional strategies, scaffolding techniques, and differentiated learning approaches to support diverse student needs.
- Review, refine, and validate learning materials to maintain zero-defect content quality.
Quality Assurance & Standards Alignment
- Ensure all content and assessments are error-free, pedagogically sound, and aligned with state/national standards.
- Implement rigorous review cycles, quality checks, and validation processes to maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Work closely with editors and QA specialists to deliver content that meets or exceeds client expectations.
Client Engagement & Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring alignment on goals, deliverables, and expectations.
- Provide regular project updates, gather client feedback, and incorporate revisions efficiently.
- Proactively address client concerns, suggest improvements, and ensure client delight through innovative solutions.
Process Optimization & Best Practices
- Drive process improvements for content development, assessment creation, and instructional design workflows.
- Establish and share best practices for K-12 curriculum design, assessment development, and digital learning.
- Stay updated with emerging K-12 trends, edtech tools, and evolving educational policies to enhance content effectiveness.
