What will you do at Ciena
The candidate will be involved in the design and development of embedded software for our next generation carrier class networking products across the product line. This position will focus on security and vulnerability of the management plane software. You will be implementing the latest protocols and developing system components that provide overall chassis security , High Availability , non - service affecting software upgrades , alarm , customer interfaces and health services. As part of a highly successful software development team , you will be introduced to useful tools and resources that will help you grow both professionally and personally. It is a unique opportunity to develop your engineering knowledge and skills in an environment dedicated to maintaining industry superiority.
The candidate will be expected to provide basi : assessment of own work including effort estimation , status reporting and troubleshoot / fix reported issues. The candidate will get enough exposure for continuous learning and development of skills in the related domain.
Required Skills :
Good : programming skills with exposure to debugging / trouble shooting (gdb) over Linux / Unix based OS and passion to code.
Good understanding of Data - Structures & multi - threading concepts.
Good understanding of Memory management , processor scheduling , Process management and inter - process communication concepts.
Understanding of basi : networking concepts e.g. TCP / IP / MPLS , VLAN / Ethernet , Switching and Routing , QoS , DHCP , SNMP.
Self - starter with a strong can do belief , who can work in a dynami : environment with little supervision.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor s / Master s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
Decent written and verbal communication skills.
