We are looking for a Staff Engineer to lead the next evolution of the AI assistant platform by defining and building highly scalable Generative AI systems and infrastructure. This will be a hands-on technical leadership role which requires expertise at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems, agent-based architectures, server-side architectures, ML model deployments and scaling, audio/video s treaming architectures, and more. Our AI assistants are rapidly incorporating LLMs, agent-based architecture with custom fine-tuned models across multiple data modalities.
What You Will Do
Partner with key business stakeholders and be a thought leader in the Conversational AI space for driving the development and planning of POCs and production AI solutions .
Translate business requirements into strategies, initiatives, and projects. Align these with business strategy and objectives . Drive the execution of the deliverables.
Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.
Lead multiple initiatives within the platform, with focus on efficiency, innovation, and leverage.
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to a small group of highly skilled and motivated engineers.
Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
Collaborate with software engineers , ML engineers, and applied scientists to develop next generation of AI assistant experiences.
Be up-to date on industry trends in the latest Generative AI, Speech /Video processing and AI assistant architecture patterns ( eg agent chaining, COT, RAG, LLM guardrails etc)
Lead innovation and efficiency through the complete problem-solving cycle, from approach to methods to development and results.
Partner and engage with associates in other regions for delivering the best services to customers around the globe.
Proactively participate in the external community to strengthen Walmarts brand and gain insights into industry practices.
What you will bring:
B achelors with 10+ years or M asters with 8+ years of relevant experience. Educational qualifications should be in Computer Science or related fields
6+ years of experience designing, building large distributed systems for high availability and scale using Java/ S pri ngBoot , NodeJS, Python
6+ years of experience of developing services using managed servicing public cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP
5 + years of experience and fluency with relational/no- sql (eg, MySQL, Cassandra, etc.) databases
5 + year of experience working with Kafka, ActiveMQ, Caches such as Redis or memcached, Elastic Search, Spark and HDFS
Proven understanding of micro-services-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
Advanced knowledge of performance, scalability, and system architecture with an eye toward avoiding and reducing technical debt
Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies (eg, XP, scrum, agile)
Experience in working with large code bases and effectively driving large projects
Experience in mentoring engineers and influencing other engineers across the organization
Good problem-solving attitude and analytical skills
Strong communication skills with inclination to high ownership and commitment
Experience in d esigning large scale AI/ML systems for real-time inferencing and streaming applications would be ideal.
Experience in programming skills across big data and ML engineering stack would be preferred
