About the Role
The Insights Shop is seeking a seasoned Email Deliverability Manager to join our expanding global team. This role is instrumental in enhancing our email communications infrastructure, ensuring high inbox placement rates, and supporting marketing growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing high-volume email systems, deep technical knowledge of deliverability factors, and experience with AWS and email infrastructure tools.
Key Responsibilities
Email Deliverability Expertise
- Manage and optimize email deliverability across global campaigns.
- Develop and utilize scripts for real-time monitoring and performance analysis.
- Track and improve inbox placement rates using key metrics.
AWS & Technical Management
- Utilize AWS services such as Amazon SES (Simple Email Service), CloudWatch, and Route 53 for email delivery, DNS management, and monitoring.
- Set up and maintain DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) using AWS Route 53.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to maintain and scale cloud-based email infrastructure.
- Improve IP reputation and manage dedicated/shared IP pools.
Compliance & Legal Standards
- Ensure compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and global email regulations.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to enforce opt-in policies and data privacy best practices.
Deliverability Testing & Tools
- Conduct rigorous deliverability tests using tools like:
- Return Path, MxToolbox, Spamhaus, SNDS, RBLs, and Google Postmaster Tools.
- Resolve blacklist issues and collaborate with ISPs and inbox providers to maintain reputation.
Email Design & Development
- Build responsive emails with accurate rendering across all devices.
- Hand-code HTML, CSS, and lightweight JavaScript where necessary for email content.
- Integrate dynamic content via AWS Lambda, SES templates, or external platforms.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with marketing and data teams to craft data-driven strategies.
- Work with DevOps and Engineering to streamline infrastructure integrations.
- Drive acquisition strategies and user targeting initiatives.
Reporting & Analytics
- Generate and present deliverability and engagement reports.
- Identify trends and recommend improvements using analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and email-specific dashboards.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in email deliverability, email marketing, or ESP/ISP environments.
- Strong command of AWS cloud technologies, especially Amazon SES, CloudWatch, and Route 53.
- Expertise in email marketing platforms, MTA management, filtering systems, and deliverability tools.
- Deep understanding of privacy laws and global regulations affecting email delivery.
- Demonstrated success in optimizing large-scale email campaigns and resolving deliverability challenges.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Postmaster, Yahoo FBL, SpamAssassin.
- Strong grasp of data hygiene, suppression lists, and email list segmentation.
- Knowledge of audience growth tactics and behavioral targeting.
- Experience with Google Analytics and custom dashboard reporting.
- Understanding of machine learning or AI in email engagement scoring (a plus).
