Job Summary:
The Production Manager in a pharmaceutical company is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing operations of drug products while ensuring compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), regulatory requirements, and quality standards. This role includes managing personnel, production schedules, and equipment to meet production targets efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day pharmaceutical production activities for tablets, capsules, syrups, ointments, or injectables (as applicable).
- Ensure production operations comply with cGMP, WHO, FDA, and other regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare and execute production plans in coordination with the planning and QA/QC departments.
- Manage and lead production staff, including training, supervision, and performance evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date production documentation (BMR, BPR, SOPs, etc.).
- Monitor key production KPIs such as yield, efficiency, OEE, downtime, and rejection rates.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance and breakdown resolution.
- Ensure the cleanliness and validation of production areas and equipment.
- Participate in internal and external audits; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Work closely with R&D, QA, and supply chain teams for process improvements and new product introductions.
- Maintain proper inventory of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods in collaboration with stores and procurement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm/M.Pharm) or related field.
- 510 years of experience in pharmaceutical production, with at least 23 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of cGMP, GDP, and regulatory standards (e.g., USFDA, MHRA, WHO-GMP).
- Experience in handling audits and inspections.
- Familiarity with production software and ERP systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to manage multi-product, multi-line production facilities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Knowledge of QMS and process validation.
