Role & responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management System:
- Design, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System
(QMS) to align with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and other
regulatory requirements.
- Develop quality policies, objectives, and procedures tailored to the organization's
manufacturing processes.
- Conduct regular internal audits and prepare for external audits to ensure compliance
and certification.
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality performance,
such as defect rates, process capability indices, and customer satisfaction scores.
2. Process and Product Quality:
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to define quality
standards for new and existing products.
- Implement advanced quality planning techniques, such as Advanced Product Quality
Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks and
implement preventive measures.
- Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other data-driven methods to monitor
and improve process capability.
3. Inspection and Testing:
- Develop comprehensive inspection plans, including sampling methods, acceptance
criteria, and testing protocols.
- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to industry
standards.
- Analyze inspection and test data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and areas
for improvement.
- Implement automated inspection systems and tools to enhance efficiency and
accuracy.
4. Supplier Quality Management:
- Define quality requirements for suppliers and conduct regular supplier audits to
ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate and approve new suppliers
based on quality performance.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics, such as defect rates and delivery timelines,
and address quality issues through corrective action plans.
5. Customer Quality Assurance:
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and complaints.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for customer-reported issues and implement
corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain a customer feedback loop to continuously improve product
quality and customer satisfaction.
6. Team Leadership and Training:
- Lead and mentor the quality assurance team, fostering a culture of continuous
improvement and accountability.
- Develop and deliver training programs on quality standards, tools, and techniques
for employees at all levels.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to enhance overall quality awareness and
performance.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of quality assurance activities, including inspection
reports, audit findings, and corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed quality reports for management, highlighting trends, achievements,
and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all quality documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audits and
regulatory inspections.
8. Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and
Kaizen principles.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction while maintaining
quality standards.
- Implement innovative technologies, such as Industry 4.0 solutions, to enhance
quality control and process efficiency.
Global Standards and Practices:
- Ensure alignment with global quality standards and practices, fostering consistency
across the organization.
Diversity and Inclusion:
- Promote a diverse and inclusive work environment, encouraging collaboration and
respect among team members from varied cultural backgrounds.
- Implement training programs to enhance cultural competence that align with the
Global Benchmark.
Customer-Centric Approach:
- Emphasize a customer-first mindset, ensuring that quality assurance processes meet
the expectations of India's and the global customer base.
- Develop tailored solutions to address customers' unique quality standard needs in
different regions.
Technology and Innovation:
- Leverage cutting-edge technologies, such as AI-driven quality control systems and
IoT-enabled monitoring tools, to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging employees to propose and implement
new ideas.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, and
surface treatments (e.g., black zinc plating, chemical conversion coatings, black oxide
coating, Painting, and Powder Coating Standards).
- Proficiency in automated manufacturing technologies, such as CNC machines,
robotics, and additive manufacturing (3D printing).
Process Optimization:
- Implement advanced manufacturing techniques, such as Just-In-Time (JIT)
production and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), to enhance efficiency.
- Utilize simulation software and digital twins to optimize production processes and
reduce downtime.
Quality Control Tools:
- Expertise in using quality control tools, such as Coordinate Measuring Machines
(CMM), optical comparators, and automated inspection systems.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis software for process monitoring and improvement.
Preferred candidate profile
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or Quality
Management.
Certifications such as Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE),
or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) are preferred.
