Job Description
The Opportunity
Reporting to a Delivery Lead, the Senior Front-End Engineer is responsible for delivering product requirements and features end to end.
The Senior Front-End Engineer ensures software is written to the highest quality, adhering to HUB's internal standards and reference architecture guidelines. They take responsibility for all aspects of a products user interface, aligning it with guidelines from the Head of Design and the Product Owner's requirements.
Purpose
Accountability
- Ensuring high-quality source code and minimizing technical debt
- Maintaining User Story hygiene, including estimation and status updates
- Delivering product requirements as per estimates
- Collaborating with Product Owners and UX Designers to suggest technical solutions
- Contributing to and maintaining components for HUB's internal library
- Staying updated with the latest technology trends and releases
- Mentoring Associate Engineers
- Being inquisitive and asking questions
Deliverables
- Delivering product features according to the product roadmap
- Contributing components to HUB's internal component library
- Providing source code that meets HUB's internal standards and quality rules
- Contributing to the engineering community across all product teams at HUB
- Consistently meeting or exceeding expectations based on HUB's core values and technical standards
- Owning personal development
About You
Must have:
- 3+ years of experience writing code in React
- Experience with Typescript/JavaScript
- Experience developing reusable components and building a component library
- Experience with unit testing using Jest and React-Testing-Library
- Experience working with UX designers to deliver intuitive user interfaces
- Knowledge of best practices for security, authentication, and authorization in web development
- Ability to design and build optimized, scalable, and reliable web applications
- Practical use of best development practices
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment with iterative development and regular demos
- Experience guiding mid or junior developers and conducting code reviews
- A natural problem solver
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with Micro-frontend architecture
- Some back-end experience with developing APIs or working with databases
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps Pipelines
- Knowledge of DevOps and working with cloud environments
- Experience in the Financial Services domain
