Job Description
The Sr. Security Engineer will be responsible for evaluating, testing, and monitoring the overall security of systems, networks, and applications. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations while proactively addressing security risks and threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in evaluating, testing, and monitoring the security of systems, networks, and applications.
- Work with Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Internal Systems teams to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Ensure adherence to security regulations such as ISO27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other compliance requirements.
- Conduct risk analysis and threat modeling to provide actionable security requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams to design and implement security solutions.
- Create and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and technical baselines.
- Manage security tools such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, DDoS protection, Web Application Firewalls, and anti-malware platforms.
- Conduct internal penetration testing and security assessments.
- Research and report security risks, advising leadership on compliance impact.
- Support security-related activities for employees and customers.
- Stay updated on emerging security threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Maintain compliance documentation for internal and external audits.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of security technologies, including
- Cloud Security: GCP, Azure, AWS
- Operating Systems: Windows (2008/2012/2016/2019/10/11), Cisco IOS, FortiOS, F5 TMOS, CentOS, Ubuntu
- Database Management: MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL
- Networking & Security Protocols: Active Directory, TCP/IP (v4/v6), Two-Factor Authentication, SSL/TLS, IDS/IPS
- Security Tools: Tenable.io, Nessus, Tenable.sc, WAF, SIEM (Elastic SIEM),CrowdStrike, Mimecast
- Security Best Practices: IT Risk Management, OWASP, IoT Security
- Compliance Frameworks: ISO27001, PCI DSS 3.2, GDPR
- Ability to analyze security architecture and translate industry standards into actionable requirements.
- Experience in creating security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Hands-on experience with security testing and vulnerability remediation.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in a technology role, with at least 4 years in information security.
- Experience in security engineering and system/network/application security is preferred.
- Any Degree
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Certifications (preferred but not mandatory):
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security
- Any SANS Institute security certification
