Role & responsibilities
Job Title: Manager Quality Control (QC)
Department: Quality Control
Location: Daund
Reporting To: Head Quality/Plant Head/Technical Director Experience Required: 15 - 20 years in QC, with at least 5 - 8 years in aroma chemicals or specialty chemicals
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the Quality Control function for aroma chemicals, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, internal specifications, and customer requirements, while supporting product development and continuous improvement in analytical methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead and supervise the QC team for routine analysis and lab operations.
- Train and mentor QC chemists and analysts on analytical techniques and documentation.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure all QC operations are compliant with internal SOPs, ISO, FSSAI, REACH, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Maintain proper documentation of results, COAs, and batch release records.
- Analytical Testing:
- Oversee analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using GC, GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, UV, etc.
- Review and approve analytical results and ensure timely release of batches.
- Instrument Calibration & Maintenance:
- Ensure periodic calibration, validation, and maintenance of analytical instruments.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with service providers for repairs.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of test reports, COAs, and deviations.
- Handle customer complaints related to product quality with detailed root cause analysis.
- Product Development Support:
- Collaborate with R&D and production teams during new product development and scale-up phases.
- Assist in method development and validation for new aroma chemicals.
- Audit & Inspections:
- Prepare for and actively participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) post-audit.
Key Requirements:
- Education: M.Sc. in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry or equivalent
- Experience: 15 - 20 years of QC experience, preferably in aroma or specialty chemicals
- Skills:
- Hands-on experience with GC, GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements
- Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in MS Office and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
Preferred Industry Background:
Aroma chemicals, essential oils, perfumery ingredients, flavors & fragrance industry, or specialty/fine chemicals
