Job Title: Manager Projects (Mechanical)
Department: Projects / Engineering
Location: Daund
Reporting To: Head Engineering / Director Operations
Experience Required: 812 years in project management, especially in chemical/process industries
Job Purpose:
To lead the planning, execution, and completion of mechanical engineering projectsincluding plant expansion, equipment installation, and infrastructure developmentensuring quality, safety, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution:
- Plan and manage end-to-end execution of mechanical projects including new equipment installation, piping, utility systems, and structural works.
- Prepare detailed project schedules, BOQs, and execution strategies.
- Design & Engineering:
- Review and approve mechanical designs, fabrication drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Ensure compliance with process requirements, safety standards, and industry codes (ASME, ANSI, IS, etc.).
- Vendor & Contractor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and manage vendors and contractors for mechanical fabrication, erection, and commissioning.
- Monitor contractor performance, work quality, and adherence to timelines.
- Budget & Cost Control:
- Prepare and monitor project budgets and control costs without compromising quality or safety.
- Negotiate contracts and manage change orders effectively.
- Installation & Commissioning:
- Supervise erection, alignment, and commissioning of reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, pipelines, utility lines, and other plant equipment.
- Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and civil teams for integrated project execution.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all activities adhere to statutory and internal safety, environmental, and quality norms.
- Maintain project documentation including drawings, inspection reports, handover documents, and as-built records.
- Team Management:
- Lead a team of engineers and supervisors; assign tasks, mentor junior team members, and drive accountability.
Key Requirements:
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience: 812 years in mechanical project execution, preferably in chemical, aroma, or process industries
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of plant mechanical systems: reactors, condensers, tanks, piping, etc.
- Expertise in project planning tools (Primavera/MS Project), AutoCAD, and ERP systems
- Excellent communication, leadership, and vendor negotiation skills
- Sound knowledge of safety standards and statutory regulations
Preferred Industry Background:
Aroma chemicals, specialty chemicals, bulk chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, or food processing plants
