Job Description

Here are the key roles and responsibilities of a Quality Inspector/Engineer in a casting and forging company:

1. Quality Control and Inspection:

• Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of cast and forged parts.

• Use precision measuring instruments (like calipers, micrometers, and CMM) to ensure product conformity.

• Check surface finish, hardness, tensile strength, and other physical properties.

2. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain inspection records, quality reports, and test certificates.

• Prepare non-conformance reports (NCR) for defects or deviations.

• Maintain traceability of inspection records as per quality standards.

3. Process Monitoring and Improvement:

• Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.).

• Identify root causes of defects and suggest corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

• Implement and monitor quality control plans (QCP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

4. Testing and Analysis:

• Perform destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) like ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle testing.

• Analyze test results and make recommendations for improvements.

5. Coordination and Communication:

• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues.

• Participate in internal and external audits related to quality management.

• Train production staff on quality standards and inspection techniques.

6. Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure all quality inspections comply with regulatory standards and safety protocols.

• Report any safety hazards identified during inspections.
